Storyline Units were originally developed by the California Science Implementation Network (CSIN) to assist elementary teachers in teaching science more conceptually. The units have been used successfully by those new to teaching and those who have been teaching for many years. The revised Storyline Units have kept the original intent of the project and have added new features: literacy strategies to increase both science and literacy understanding; a poster-size train graphic organizer of the unit concepts; and a standards map to indicate alignment to the California Science Standards.
The modular units can be used as "stand-alone" units or can be combined to provide a year-long program of instruction in all three science disciplines (life, earth and physical science). Storyline Units may also be used to supplement text-based programs. The following units are scheduled for release this year: |
